SCIS can catalogue language materials in non-western scripts, such as Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, etc. To do this, we need to examine the actual characters/script used to create accurate records for items. We strongly prefer that these items be sent to SCIS for examination and entered in our online catalogue request system like any other shipment. Instructions of how to do this can be found on How do I send resources to SCIS for cataloguing?
If you cannot send items to a depot, submit an online catalogue request with as much information as possible about the resource. See How do I make an online cataloguing request? for further information of how to do this.
- If you are not able to translate the title, you can enter the phrase: Title in [language]
- Add a summary in the Additional Information field if possible.
- Attach readable images of the title page and publishing history (copyright) page to the online request.
SCIS cataloguers may contact you for further information if required. Please note that items without an ISBN may not have enough available metadata for cataloguers to create a quality record.
