How do I set up Z39.50 or the SCIS API?

A SCIS Data subscription is required to access SCIS records through Z39.50 and the SCIS API. Most modern library management systems (LMS) support Z39.50 and the API. However please contact your vendor if you are unsure whether this function is available in your system. 

Z39.50

In order to correctly configure your LMS to access Z39.50, you will need the following SCIS database configuration details:

Domain name/IP address: z3950.scisdata.com 
Database name: SCIS 
Port: 210 or 7090 (if you are a Victorian government school, please use port 7090) 

Z39.50 and API Credentials

Please note: your Z39.50 and API username and password will likely be different from the credentials you use to login to the SCIS website. To retrieve your Z39.50 or API username and password:

1. Login to your SCIS account
2. Click on your school/organisation name at the top right corner of the page
3. Select My profile
4. Select School/Organisaton Settings
5. Scroll down until you see the Z39.50/API information headings

If you do not see the Z39.50 or API information headings, then you have not been enabled with Z39.50 access. Contact us to have it enabled.

Once you have your credentials, you can share this with your Library Management System ad they can support with the integration.
