The Schools Catalogue Information Service (SCIS) is a cataloguing service created specifically for school libraries.
SCIS creates high quality, consistent catalogue records for resources in the school library’s collection. SCIS’s metadata-rich catalogue records promote the discoverability of resources within the school library’s catalogue.
A subscription to SCIS helps increase efficiency, reducing costs for school libraries through the automation of the cataloguing process.
SCIS catalogue records can be downloaded and imported directly into the school library’s Library Management System (LMS). SCIS utilises both the Z39.50 and API protocols to streamline and automate the importing of SCIS catalogue records and cover images into the LMS’s catalogue. Additionally, SCIS subscribers can request for items not in the SCIS database to be catalogued by SCIS’s expert team of cataloguers.
