The SCIS catalogue allows you to browse all the resources that SCIS has catalogued over the years. As we specialise in the education sector, it is a great way to see what resources are available and use it as a guide in curating your own school library collection.
Basic search
The default search option is basic search. Enter keywords in the search box to search all fields in SCIS records. Once you have been given your initial search results, you will see a range of options to filter your search result on the left-hand side of the page. The main categories for filtering include:
- Publication year
- Learning area
- Subject (SCIS Subject Headings)
- Subject (ScOT)
- Subject (Names)
- Genre
- Audience
- Type
- Country of publication.
Advanced search
Advanced search offers up to three search fields that you can connect using Boolean operators: AND, OR or NOT. Search using keywords, or select from a range of specific fields to search in. You can search these fields to find records matching all of your search terms, any of your search terms, or an exact phrase.
Advanced search offers options to limit your search:
- Place of publication
- Publication year (specify a start and/or end year)
- Language
- Genre (including fiction/nonfiction)
- Type
Once you have been given your search results, you can filter further by using the options on the left-hand side of the page.
